Feelin froggy 8131 Posted April 3, 2013 Hi Bingo Balls! There has been many closures of bingo clubs around the UK in the news. There was an increase in taxes on bingo and this has made it even more difficult for clubs that are already suffering. I think online bingo has a lot to do with it. I don't think that there is a decrease in player interest in the game it's just easier to play at home. No deposit bonuses, welcome bonuses, reloads and sheer convenience make it a hit. Online gambling is great but once in a while you need to immerse yourself in the environment. Do you think the rise of online bingo is the main reason for the decline in player interest in live bingo? Have any of our members noticed that bingo establishments are closing or have closed in your area? Quote Share this post Link to post
Johnny Karp 12154 Posted April 3, 2013 I guess lots of bingo fans prefer to play online, you can even play on your phone and so one, might be more convenient for most people. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
drtheolen 1298 Posted April 3, 2013 Froggy and Johnny, I suppose youre right, playing online is certainly more convenient. I as well love playing online, but at least for me it can never be a replacement for the bingo hall's atmosphere just as online casino cannot replace a land based casino. I regret cause I dont have the opportunity to visit any land based bingo hall here in Serbia (because there arent any at the moment), I surely wouldnt replace such experience with the online one. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted April 3, 2013 Going to a real bingo hall must be very exciting and as drtheolen said, I doubt that there are any bingo halls here in Serbia. It's quite sad to be honest. Back to the subject, yes, i think that online bingo is one of the main reasons why they're closing bingo halls around UK. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8131 Posted April 3, 2013 No bingo halls in Serbia huh. Well, let's hope someday that changes. How about land based casinos? Do you guys have those? Quote Share this post Link to post
drtheolen 1298 Posted April 3, 2013 Well, we do have several land based casinos that deserve to be mentioned but I dont recall Ive ever met anyone who plays there. We have an enormous amount of land based sports bettings though, thats really popular here. Since Im not really attuned to any kind of sport, gambling online comes as pretty much the only option :D 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
chillymellow 1513 Posted April 4, 2013 Everything seems to be about the same over here, but that may be because of not knowing exactly where the USA is going with online gambling. I'm sure a lot more folks over here would play online if the US would go ahead and open the door. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
lipstick 14304 Posted April 4, 2013 There has been some bingo halls that have closed in our area. I don't know if it is because of the smoking ban or an increase of playing online bingo. I think most likely it is a bit of both. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
