Feelin froggy 8139 Posted May 20, 2014 There's always something outrageous going on in the world and there's no shortage of craziness related to bingo. Here's where you're going to find all the outrageous bingo stories! First up is the story of 35-year-old Wendy White of the UK. She ripped off thousands of pounds from a pre-school to help pay her £20,000 in gambling debts. The nursery was days away from closing its doors when the remaining staff of just 5 employees agreed to work for free and parents launched fund-raising events to help save it. White only admits to stealing just over £2k and due to her large debts - get ready for the crazy part - a judge ordered her to repay £1! Needless to say the school staff doesn't see the point in such an order. White was also sentenced to a 12 month community order and supervision. So, what do you LBB'ers think of this one? In a sense I can understand that you can't get blood from a turnip. It's obviously a judgement based on principle but seriously £1? Maker her pay something more substantial over time. And since I'm a betting woman, I'd be willing to bet that she took more than £2,000. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Johnny Karp 12154 Posted May 21, 2014 That's absurd, she should have been ordered to give back everything she took. Not that she eventually would considering her already huge debt, but still, it would have been the correct thing to do. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted May 21, 2014 Just because she's in debts that doesn't mean there should be any special circumstances for her. She obviously has gambling problems; she should have a professional counseling. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
lipstick 14304 Posted May 21, 2014 Where is a sympathetic judge when we need one lmaooooo!! That is totally insane and where in the world does it say in the law books a judge can make this kind of ruling based off income and sympathy. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8139 Posted May 21, 2014 How about some sympathy for the little kids that almost lost their school or the teachers that worked for free to save it. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
drtheolen 1312 Posted May 22, 2014 I somehow feel that softness and understanding when it comes to crime of all sorts will surely be our ultimate downfall. I perceive this case as a missed opportunity to set an example. It wouldn't be surprising to hear about similar stories in the future. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8139 Posted June 1, 2014 Yes Sometimes the beat does drop in bingo..... This YouTube idiot likes to go into public places in his speedo and film it for his page. Speedo Shy made his way through a bingo hall wearing a black speedo. Connaught Bingo Club manager Josie Bush said, "He just appeared from nowhere and danced down the main hall, turned around and disappeared out of the front door. "All the customers cheered. He certainly put a smile on their faces. It was fortunate that he didn’t turn up 10 minutes earlier as we were playing The National Game for £250,000 and his stunt would have seriously disrupted the game." The video contains some swear words but the bingo bit doesn't start until 3:28. I'd say he's anything but speedo shy wouldn't you?!? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted June 2, 2014 LOL He's not shy at all. Fun video. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Feelin froggy 8139 Posted June 5, 2014 The kids want to play to! Children as young as 6 and 7 years old were found to be playing late night bingo for money at a social club in the UK. A player complained to the local council who paid the club a visit warning them that allowing kids to play bingo was against the law. A spokesman for the Gambling Commission said, “Participation in the gaming by under 18s is not permitted - unless the gaming is private or non-commercial gaming.” I have never seen a child playing in a bingo hall before. It's more competition for me so I'd report them too! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Feelin froggy 8139 Posted July 15, 2014 The latest bit of outrageousness occurred at a Mecca Bingo when 4 men busted in with a shotgun, hammer and machete stealing £5,000 on Sunday evening. They pulled up in a stolen car and which they later ditched and police are now tearing it apart for clues as the men have not been caught. Sgt Kevin Day said: “The bingo hall was open for business at the time and was full of people enjoying the games. Luckily nobody was badly hurt, but that should not undermine the fact that these men came heavily armed and capable of causing serious injury. "The men knew what they were doing, they wasted no time in going straight to the cash drawers to ensure a quick getaway and used a stolen car which was soon abandoned after the crime.” Could you imagine the horror on the faces of bingo players? A machete? All that for £5k. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted July 16, 2014 I have to admit that the machete caught my attention instantly, so weird. It seems like they knew what they were doing so they probably had visited the place before. I feel sorry for all the players that had to go thought such a terrible experience, when they should have just enjoyed the game. Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8139 Posted July 16, 2014 Yeah I'm sure they staked out the place before robbing it. Could you imagine if someone would've been hurt? All that for 5 grand. Pathetic! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
blueday 16933 Posted July 16, 2014 Must have been really scary. I wonder if they carried on calling the numbers! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8139 Posted July 28, 2014 In Wales, a drunk man passed out and awoke to find himself locked up inside of a bingo hall. Cleaners let him out in the morning when they arrived and found that he had been trying to break into a sweet dispenser. He faced burglary charges for having a sweet tooth but the court dropped the case since he admitted to stealing the sweets and caused damage to the dispenser. The police even went so far as to locate his finger prints on the candy machine. LOL What a way to wake up! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
blueday 16933 Posted July 28, 2014 They obvously did a thorough search before locking up then....NOT. Great story Froggy. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted July 29, 2014 :D How could they leave a person locked in?! The story is kind of funny. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Feelin froggy 8139 Posted July 29, 2014 I chuckled too on this one. There must not be much crime in that city if police are dusting candy machines for prints LOL Quote Share this post Link to post
lipstick 14304 Posted July 29, 2014 Omg that is too funny. Too bad he didn't go all out and stand on stage as the bingo caller or fix himself a couple brewskis and have a real bang up time inside! I have always thought it would be fun to get locked in a big department store overnight and try on all the clothes, roam through each department and play with everything! Feelin froggy 8139 Posted August 14, 2014 A woman recently won £50,000 at a Mecca Bingo hall and shared it with her friend. They split it right down the middle £25K each. The pair always agree to split their winnings no matter how big or how small. Would you split a win of that size? For me it would depend on who it was. If it was just a bingo buddy that I saw once a week there's no way! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
lipstick 14304 Posted August 15, 2014 I think it was a pretty cool thing to do I would share it with someone if they were very close friend of mine. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Markotik 4920 Posted August 15, 2014 Only with a very close friend and in case we had such deal - to share all our winnings. :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
