  • Hiya Bingo Darlins,

Suppose you have a friend and make a promise to share any wins while playing bingo. Your friend wins a big bingo jackpot worth 10K but suddenly refuses to share half with you.

Would you take her/him to court, disown them as a friend, or feel sorry for them because they may need the money more then you?

Have you ever a had a gambling buddy who you share all your wins with and do you think it is a good idea?

    Lips

  • I would be mad, no doubt about it. They would expect to take half of mine for sure.

This didn't happen to me but it happened to my mother-in-law. Her and a friend agreed to share their winnings, an idea cooked up by the friend. The friend won and didn't share. She had every excuse in the book of why she couldn't share. MIL even paid for her bingo and she didn't even pay her back for that.

  • I'd be pretty mad at first.  A deal is a deal and had it been me that won, I would have definitely shared.  It would cost the friendship as i would never be able to trust that person again.

I wouldn't bother taking them to court as the money is obviously more important to them but I know i could never want to keep a friend like that and it would be the parting of the ways for sure.

What about you Lips - what would you do?

    blue .

  • I don't think i would put myself in that kind of situation to begin with. If i won, particularly big i would help out my friends anyway. My wheels were turning as it was if i had won the 35k at Gala Bingo how much i would give froggy.

I think when any of us think of the prospect of winning big we always think about those who we would give a piece of it to.

If i really set myself up into sharing wins and i got the shaft from my friend when she won then lesson would be learned. I wouldn't go to court over it but all bets would be off in the future thats for sure.

As far a retaining that friendship goes it would depend on a lot of factors. How bad did my friend need this cash, how long have i known her and was there ever a point she was remorseful for her actions.

Probably the best thing to do is walk away and end the friendship. But sometimes i have a tough time breaking off ties like that and forgive to a fault.

I think the best course of action is not to make those kind of agreements and give to those you care about when and if you win.

    :-* :-* :-*

  • I have tried this, but only with family...

My mother would get squirrelly about it and usually only wanted to do the sharing thing if she did not have much money at the time for gambling...

My sisters on the other hand share with me and I with them on a constant basis when we go to a casino... whichever of the three of us wins we go share it with the others just so all of us can keep playing and having fun...

I give to a fault so I don't think I would even consider it with a friend... I already give them anything I have that they might need and I would not want to put that kind of strain on a relationship.
