Bingo Player Has a Heart Attack and Bingo Caller Does Not Care!

Hiya Bingo Sweethearts,

I played at Gala Bingo when i was in UK and i have to admit it is way different then how the numbers are called in US. They are lightening fast and there is zero time for any sleepers during the game. I had a look of panic on my face when the game started and told froggy no way can i keep up! It did take a minute or two to get the rhythm.

At a Gala Bingo hall in Brighton one woman passed out and panicked players thought she was dead. It turns out she had a heart attack. What is sad is the bingo caller kept right on calling the numbers. The players were very upset and outraged when they shouted for the caller to stop and he continued to call numbers.

At one point the collapsed woman had such a weak pulse that everyone in the room thought she died. This has left many players with resentment claiming that Gala Bingo does not care about their customers at all.

Gala Bingo said in their defense that care was given by calling an ambulance and it is company policy to continue the game.

I find this to be very inhumane and lack very little compassion. I know if i was there i would of been very upset.

Company policy to continue? Sorry, that's just not good enough. How bizarre to even suggest that they were justified. Obviously there is room for improvement and company policy needs an overhaul.

Absolutely froggy! I think i would of been freaked out and i wonder how many players could actually continue dabbing numbers as this was going on??

It is a sad world when in cases like this its "business as usual" mentality.

I had a similar experience about 2 months ago. Sis and I were at a small casino, sitting there playing slots. We were near the cash cage (brain freeze! wth do you call it? lol)  when an older man just goes down, faints. I look up to see everyone around just staring at him. I jump up and walk over to him. He is coming around but still weak. While I'm there, trying to talk to him,  the casino workers step in. I just couldn't believe the ones that were standing right next to him just staring, not doing anything. Come to find out, he was a diabetic. I was glad it wasn't anything serious. If I go down, I don't want to be in any casino or bingo hall!

I will never ever understand people like this that would simply just not care. I don't get it. I am like you if something is happening i have to jump in. Situations like this really bring me down when it is happening. It is like i want to scream and say "what is wrong with you people"!

I have been in a few situations where i stepped in to help someone as the rest of world passed them by and could careless. I know i have discussed this many times before with some people and have heard them say that they just don't want to get involved. Get in involved? Oh my it makes me very sad.

It's the same in Vegas.  I was playing blackjack and a guy went down at the craps table near where I was sitting.  The game went on around him and then paramedics came.  Game still went on.  I asked the dealer about it and he told me that is the way it is.  The games must continue no matter what.

It just goes to show you that the all mighty dollar rules. If that was a family member or someone i was close to i don't think i could ever go back. It had to shake you up med. It is one thing if the dealer had to follow protocol but what about the players!

If i was a dealer i would be fired. Not sure i could follow those type of policies. That is where the moral and ethical side of me comes out.

I can understand to a degree Vegas may have to be a bit more guarded considering players stage these kind of things to pull off an underhanded scheme. I think in this situation i have to blame the players more because they had no policy to follow.

It's incredible to think that a game of bingo is more important than someone having a heart attack.  Outrageous when you think about it.
