It's that way with all charities, one has to wonder or inquire what % of the proceeds are actually going to help the intended recipients. And how much is going to the administrators and staff. It's an age-old problem. Most land bingo games around here in Texas are not-for-profit.
Even the ones operating daily have some sort of affiliation with or help groups to raise money for their charity or church. Texas has strict licensing requirements for the folks working the bingo halls. Still, there are some that get away with raking in the money and doling out little if any to the charity for which it was intended. Spend your bingo dollars wisely, and if you want to support a charity by playing bingo, check into where the money goes.
I think it's good that the online sites are beginning to show interest in the 'community' and contribute charitably to those in need. I am not at all sure how regulation occurs or who is the regulating authority. So I don't know how one would check up on the legitimacy of the charitable contributions claims. Anyone have any ideas as to how we can verify how much money is being actually processed into the charity?
