  • If you have played the game of bingo, you will have noticed that the bingo numbers in the UK version have fun rhyming calls associated with each bingo number. Rather than just call out the number as it is, UK bingo uses special bingo calls to announce the number, each one with its own story and history. This may seem strange to new players, but it’s as much of a British tradition as tea and scones, and adds a huge deal of fun to the proceedings.

Here is a list of some of the most popular bingo calls you may come across during a game. The meanings to rhyming numbers range from historical or popular reference, or simple rhyming fun that makes a play on words for each number (for instance number three, cup of tea). Sometimes it’s also a case of what the bingo numbers resemble, for instance the number eight resembles a rotund lady, and the number eleven resembles a pair of legs.

I think I know about that number Lips - 5 and 6 was she worth it.  I think it pertains to either the cost of a "lady of the street" and the 5 and 6 being 5 shillings and 6 pence (old UK money) now worth a staggering 27.5 pence or the cost spent on a date with a woman!

Thanks for the great list Imagin.
