Country Crossing bingo casino yields $1.6 million check for Houston County
DOTHAN, Ala. -- The Houston County Commission received a $1.6 million check on Thursday as the first payment of revenue generated by bingo machine stamp revenues from the Country Crossing bingo casino, the Dothan Eagle reports.
In September, the county required a stamp for all bingo machines operating in the county, with the stamps costing $1,000 per machine requiring annual renewal, according to the Dothan Eagle, which said there are nearly 1,700 bingo machines at the new Country Crossing entertainment development.
Thursday's $1.6 million check brings total bingo stamp revenue generated by Country Crossing to $1.8 million.
Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said the money would be used for capital projects or to plump up the county's reserve fund balance.
WOW!!! That is just one county in the US. If we had a $1,000 per machine "stamp" required in all counties, that would be a nice chunk of change!
