88 are the two fat ladies!

Hiya Bingo Players,

I knew this would be just a matter of time. There is some very unique names for numbers called in the bingo world. One of them is 88. That is "two fat ladies" in bingo lingo!

There is a campaign for to save the name of the 88. Already there has been 3000 who have joined the cause to to save the coined name of 88.

Robert Hutchinson is head of the campaign to save the names of bingo numbers.

The call for the number 88 earned its nickname because it was said to resemble two women of a larger size stood next to each other. If the European Union is successful with outlawing two fat ladies, other bingo calls such as dirty knees for 33 and legs eleven could come under fire due to their sexual connotations.

Do you find any bingo names for numbers offensive? Do you feel any names should be outlawed?

The number 88 never even comes up at a land bingo hall.  At least not in California, all we have is 75 ball "regular" bingo.  hehe

So if you only see 88 online, who cares!! LMAO  No one knows if you are fat or not.  Since soooooo many people make up their online identity, the only way anybody would know you were one of the "fat ladies" id when you complain about it!!!!  LOL!!!!

Some of the names are really cute that are associated with the numbers. I really hope they are not outlawed.....besides what would happend to tonys den........wink!

88 - for some reason i got reminded of the two eskimos from lays chip commercial -

1st 8 - sitting beside 2nd 8 staring at the horizon while holding a bag of lays chips

2nd 8 - sitting beside 1st 8 just staring blankly at the horizon

1st 8 - takes a chip from the bag and eats it

2nd 8 - "can I have one?" while reaching to get into the bag of chips

1st 8 - pulls the bag of chips away and points his finger to the horizon and moves it across slowly from left to right as he replies.... "but if i give one to you...then i must give one to everyone else"

2nd 8 -  looks at who 1st 8 could possibly pointing at by following where 1st 8 finger points; meanwhile no one is site..dumbfounded 2nd 8 replies "I guess that means no?"

1st 8 - replies with a big smile and a approving grunt then eats another chip while keeping the bag away from 2nd 8

1st 8 - returns to staring at the horizon

2nd 8 - returns to staring at the horizon =)

But I guess that's why 88 is called two fat ladies...and not two eskimos...they would have had at least one or two bags of chips in each of their hands..."Ohhhhh...so that's how lays chips got to the you just can't have one commercials!!!"

I'm thinking these poeple are a little over sensitive and need to get a life.  It's just a bunch of numbers with funny names attached.  BTW....13 you are too funny darlin :)
