  • There is no doubt gambling can raise our blood pressure especially when we win! I always said if i ever one a huge Progressive Jackpot i would faint on the spot!

Bingo halls are preparing for players who get sooooo excited claiming a bingo they have a heart attack. In Cosmo Bingo halls in the UK they have installed life saving defibrillators for players who get so overwhelmed from winning they go into cardiac arrest.

The lifesaving device increases the chance of survival from a heart attack from 3% to 50%. The staff at the bingo halls has been trained to use the machine until paramedics arrive.

And i bet you thought bingo wasn't heart stopping excitement!

Do you think this is a good idea or is this going to extremes in precautionary measures?

  • I think it's a brilliant idea.  The majority of the patrons are elderly and if this equipment saves just one life, then it is worthwhile.

  • I think that's a great idea not just in case someone wins but in case people lose big money. as long as they don't invade a player's privacy or interfere with gambling outcomes, it's fine by me. What I mean is, as long as they don't start assuming that someone is ill, it's fine.

  • I think it is a good idea even if just one life is saved. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have this for the athletes or any public place for that matter. It may just be the wave of the future and hope it does.

  • Since Im kind of guy that tend to keep my excitement inside when Im not at home, its highly likely I would snap and fall unconscious if I would hit a jackpot so its definitely awsome idea.

  • I think any public place should have a defibrillator, or several, available.  You never know when it could be needed, and it saves countless lives.  Hurrah to the bingo parlors!

While I don't have a defib device, I do have a pacemaker, which comes in handy for those heart-stopping one-to-go moments!  :D  <3

  • lmaoooo that's a great idea. I thought my heart would stop when I nearly won £2,500. 1tg's are brutal and should definitely be on hand for those big money games. I think I might need one in my house.

  • I have a healthy heart (knock on wood) but it has nearly stopped when i have 1tg on big games. I hope they do that here because my mom had a triple bipass in '09 and would be a comfort to know they had it.

  • Aww I hear ya Bonkers. I'm surprised all of us bingo players don't have heart problems. Willing my numbers out has given me a palpitation or two.

  • I hope they bring it to the US too bonkers and i think young, middle aged or elderly could use it at one time or another because it is heart racing to come so close. I get the same way with Slots!

  • It's definitely a good idea. But I hope they won't jump on the defibrillators every time someone shouts bingo :)
