  • Robbers steal bingo money from Fontana Lion's Club treasurer

Two robbers punched a 73-year-old man in his face and stole bingo money from him outside his Fontana residence.

The Lion's Club treasurer, who was transporting the bingo money, got out of his car about 10:20 p.m. in the 17400 block of Pine Avenue, according to a Fontana police news release.

A stranger approached the man and asked the victim if he could help his sick friend, police said. The stranger then hit the man with an unknown object and stole the bingo money.

The victim had a cut to his face and swelling but denied transportation to a hospital.

Have these criminals no shame? This poor guy is 73 years old. I realize he is a criminal but don't they have any scruples?? What makes this worse is he asks this elderly gentleman for help to lure him. And i bet he offered to help this jerk!

  • Bingo Bandits Strike Central Texas Bingo Hall

WACO (November 3, 2010)—Area police agencies were searching Wednesday for two men who burst into the El Rancho Bingo Hall in Waco Tuesday night and fired shots before escaping with an undetermined amount of money.

The two men, described as black, 6-feet to 6-feet, 2-inches tall, wearing dark clothing, ski masks and gloves, entered the business just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, displaying a small handgun and demanded cash.

A statement sent from Waco police Wednesday morning says the men fired one or two shots into the ceiling, grabbed a bag and a briefcase containing money and fled in what some witnesses said was a dark blue Nissan Quest minivan.

No one was shot in the incident but one woman was injured in the scramble for cover and another woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of shock.

There were about 130 patrons inside the building at the time of the robbery.

When officers first arrived at the scene, police dispatchers still were receiving calls about an active shooting and officers believed shots still were being fired.

Initial units secured the scene and learned the gunmen already had fled.

  • What the heck is up with robbing bingo halls? Been reading alot about this lately. It is crazy. Maybe they don't employ good security at these halls. With that many players assembled in one place it is amazing how they can contain them all.

The power of a gun huh...........
