  • :'(Hi e1.

I need to share the most terrible experience i've had in 15yrs of online bingo with a CH at ""Bingo on the Box"", who's name is...Bullyboy....I don't know about u all but 2 me this name is not accepltable. I have a daughter who died in 95 because of a brain tumur but 2yrs b4 she passed she was operated to remove a tumur and she was left disabled and because of this she was bullied when she returned to school. They bullied her to the extent she tried to committe suicide. She did not pass then but did 2 yrs later...now getting bk 2 the horrible CH.. I askd about his Ch name and stated that i was offened and he laughed at this. I went to live help 2 make a complaint, leaving my chat room open the roomies and CH continued to harrasse me then he puts me in private mode and leaves me there  so i wouldnt say any thing more about his name.. Then i wantd a copy of this conversation an oops they say they have tech issues can't help me...  I will tell any1 who listens to me how NOT to join this site.. PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM"" BINGO ON THE BOX""..they don't give a hoot about nothing but them selves.. If i can stop just 1 person from joining this horrible site I will hv at least got the message to 1 person.  Thanks for letting me tell my story. :'(

                    "" BULLY MEAN'S BULLY'' and it's not acceptable. x

  • 4Grace, I am really sorry to hear of your experience, and also about your sweet daughter's passing and bullying experience.  And I completely understand you being upset.  Sometimes it is just too hard to deal with reminders of tragic or upsetting experiences.

I don't think that CH handled your questions or responses well, and should be retrained in customer satisfaction and empathy.

I do want to say that sometimes different cultures have entirely different meanings for certain words.  For example "fanny pack" in America is a pursey-wallet- pouch worn around the waist to keep your valuables where you can see and get to them.  But I've heard that in England, a fanny pack is the name for a certain part of the female anatomy.  It would be embarrassingly wrong for someone from England to comment on your 'fanny pack', but in the USA, there is no harm in talking to you about your fanny pack.

And I'm not suggesting that the CH's 'name' falls into this category.  I have no clue.  I just think that for a small amount of peace of mind for you, you may want to consider the saying "bully for you".  To me, that means "good for you!" and not a wish for a bully to come into your life.

I won't be visiting Bingo on the Box, so you did get at least one person to listen to your story and understand that the behavior of the CH reflects on the whole site, and that person was just out of line and should have shown you more respect.

I was bullied quite a bit myself, and sometimes still get that kind of treatment.  Back then, it was just 'the way things are' and nobody made much effort to stop the behavior or teach me how to deal with it.  So I felt really bad about myself when the other person should have been carrying that burden.  Again, I am sorry for your experiences and I know you will find a bingo site where you can feel comfortable and have fun.  Please continue to tell any story or vent or whatever you need or want to do here at this site.  We are like family, and it's good that you spoke up.

  • I understand this name raises a lot of anger with you 4Grace, and i do understand that this name would put you in defense mode right from the moment the chat would begin.....

But it is simple (easier said the done(i agree)), but just let it be, enough bingo rooms to make the world go round right................

Don't get yourself a heartattack, just think by yourself, me leaving here, is their loss.

Join another BR and let the bully be a bully, he/she will crash a wall someday...........

  • Hi Grace,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. People can be so mean and I was bullied when I was in Jr High School. It's awful and there's something wrong within those people.

The way that chat host responded to you was wrong and I appreciate you sharing it with us. That's not an ideal name for a chat host. It's like having a doctor named Dr. Death. Not very inviting. If the name referred to something lighthearted, that would have been a good time to share the hidden meaning.  Big thumbs down for the way you were treated.

  • [Thank you for your kind words. I must say you brought up a very good remark about the meaning of the word and it could hv met something else do to our different  cultures, and  i did not think of that at the time. But the CH did not state that it didn't mean this he automaticly said"" well what's up with your name Xx4me4uxX"? (my chat name) And then e1 in that chat room startd to bombard me with insults, until i told them about my daughter. At this point he puts me in private mod and says if i have a prob to email support and acting like an idiot(i'm sry for the mean word).. And then leaves me there and has the gaul to leave the chat ban in affect. It litterly made me sick to my stomache. I must add tho that the CH Hotred was extremely sypathetique to my situation and she sent a copy of the conversation to support for me, which i'm very grateful. But that 1 rotten apple in the bussel  is 1 tomany for me..but I'm glad that you brought this subect up because i was clueless in knowing other definitions to this word...thank you for the info.  But the site should be more aware of these things, because i'm sure i'm not the only Canadian who plays...errmm played there and they should make sure that any name that is used CH's or player's should not offend anyone.  I might be over reacting to this, but from where i stand theres no excuse for what happened and for this name.

Thank you again I'm very greatful that ou took the time to explain this to me and that your aware ofthe  horror of bullying.

Have a great weekend and Good luck with your gaming.

  • I hope i can simplify this for us all.....the guy wanted his name to be bullyboy or perhaps mispelled his name of billyboy.  either way he spelled it, he had an intention.......which makes him a giant douchebag,,,,  we have turned into a society where bad people can do what they want and good people are judged by other bad people.....bully is a sack of  crap.....no excuses, no denials....a giANT SACK OF SHIiii!!

  • Hi Grace,

It could very well be that his name meant something entirely different in UK culture but more care should be taken when using names like this because this site is not limited to UK players only, therefore can be easily misunderstood from players in other countries.

The last impression a Chat Host should leave is one of a bully in nature. Much more thought and sensitivity should be put into their jobs because they reach such a diverse group of players.

I would think if he had any brain cells he would figure out that you took his name in an offensive way or at least once you told him he would explain what it meant.

Like i have said before, people can be so quick to judge and a bit more patience and understanding can go a long way. There are hardships, heartaches and tough times in life and though we may not make sense of certain things we should always take that into consideration before snapping on someone.

I too am very sorry for your loss, the toughest heartbreak to ever have to endure. Thank you for trusting this forum to share your personal loss and sharing your upsetting experience while playing bingo. I hope by all the support you received here gives you a bit of comfort.

  • A bully in UK is the same as a bully in the US and sad to say there are lots of them around.

This is a very sad story 4Grace and I'm so sorry to hear you had such a bad time at the hands of this bully.  I'm sorry to hear about your daughter too - this is a very sad event in your life that will never go away and people like this idiot make things 10 times worse.

I will never play there either so you got 2 people not to play at this site.  Nobody should be treated like this and empathy is definitely not in this idiot's dictionary.

  • Hiya Grace and LBB'ers,

I got to thinking about what has transpired and decided to contact Bingo on the Box to see if i could get some feedback on what took place. I linked this thread to Live Chat and was told that "higher management" would be in touch with me.

Within a matter of hours a received a very kind email from Operational Manager. Here is some of the things he had to say:

"First of all, thank you for bringing this to our attention.  We have always prided ourselves on having a very welcoming and friendly bingo community so we take these accusations very seriously.

Our Chat Host, CH-Bullyboy has been with us for several years and is held in very high esteem by our players.  His choice of name comes from his love of his pet bulldog – the name has absolutely no connection to the practice of bullying.

We have, however, decided that the CHs nickname could be regarded as inappropriate if the context of its origin is not known.  Therefore we are having CH-Bullyboy’s nickname amended to one that could not mistakenly cause offence".

I want to thank him for taking the time and care to respond to this. With so many bingo sites that could of easily ignored my request for a reply he stepped in to handle it. What is even more impressive is this site is not even on our list of bingo sites and because of this high regard in this matter i hope it is added in the near future.

Thanks again Bingo on the Box you have showed a great honor to our bingo community!

  • I am so happy to come across a bingo site that seems to care about their players. That's a pleasantly surprising response and I'd love to see Bingo On the Box added to our list. I commend the manager for addressing an LBB'ers complaint.  :-bd

  • I applaud you lipstick for researching this and what a pleasant result it was. I read this with disappointment because of the way Grace was treated but I must hand it to that manager. He dealt with the situation very professionally. It is not everyday you encounter a site that would make such statements and to ask the ch to change his name is very kind. That ought to please Grace. Very impressive Bingo on the box. Kudos to you.

  • A nice outcome for all, and I'm happy to know the origin of that bully name.  Great service from the management at bingo on the box!

  • My sympathies are with you Grace and sorry for your loss. Bingo on the box ty and you are commended for your understanding. I wish you were a universal mgr for every bingo. We need more customer support like this one.

  • Hi Lips. To start with I must thank you for  taking time to get me some answers, because I've been to live help and sent emails and have not received any response from them at all. Live help tried again yesterday to find out if my request had been looked into and the rep couldn't find nothing at all concerning this.I would never miss treat, disrespect nor be impolite to any1. I treat people the way i like to be treated. CHs' have a hard job in which i could nvr beable to do and i'm concoius of this and  If this Ch would have told me this from the begining I would hv understood and it would hv avoided all the pain, heartache and hassel it caused me. And I am glad to know that they took this situation seriously and professionally and are seeing to the name change.  I commende the manager and the CH for addressing my complain, I hope to hear from them soon and I will thank them. I also will keep you up to date.....Thank you again for being so compationate with me. Also i'd like to add that since this has been addressed you can remove the orginal post, not to cause the site a bad reputation, because they stood up to the situation and took action and in my book that is very honorable. I'm very pleased with the outcome... thanks again...(this took me forver to write because it touched me so deeply i can't stop crying..lol) bye 4now hugss  2u.xx  :-bd
