27 Percent Increase for Chinese Lottery
Exquisite revenues noted by 'welfare lotteries'

Last year turned out to be a smashing success for Chinese lottery sales, with revenues boosting by 27 percent to 96 billion yuan (US$14.47 billion). These numbers were announced by the Welfare Lottery Distribution and Management Center (WLDMC), a government-run lottery which raised a total of 30 billion yuan for public welfare funds in 2010.

The lottery is run by the the Ministry of Civil Affairs, which received authorization from the State Council, to raise welfare funds through lottery sales in 1987.
