From it's humble beginnings with a single bookmaker shop in 1967 based in Ordsall, Salford, it has climbed to heights that were never imagined. It came from the interest of sports betting and horse racing to taking on the online gambling circuit by storm adding Poker and Bingo to their repertoire.
Betfred Bingo has newly acquired Bucky Bingo and sister brand BOGOF Bingo from the owners of Buckingham Bingo chain. The purchase of the two sites promises to be very beneficial in marketing and strengthening the operation with the experience and knowledge that Betfred Bingo can bring to it. The three bingo sites are all powered by Playtech/Virtue Fusion software.
The buying power doesn't stop there with an offer on the table for the Tote with a £200m cash bid which would guarantee racing income of £120m over the next seven years. In a news conference Fred Done had this to say: “I am passionate about racing and we want to work with racing and prove ourselves with them. We have the greatest horse racing in the world and I want the sport to thrive. I would keep the name of the Tote on the racecourses and would look to grow the Totepool both here in the UK and internationally. I'm delighted the government have pledged 50% of the net proceeds of the sale to racing and coupled with my contributions racing will get over 120 million in the next seven years. The Tote is synonymous with racing, that's one of the reasons the deal excites me so much., and then racing would get more cash. Owning the Tote has been a long standing ambition of mine, it's exciting and I now just want to get past the winning post.”
An applaud to Fred Done for striving to keep horse racing alive and joining the online bingo market. Standing behind the name of Betfred can only mean one thing and that's success.
