Buzz Bingo is set to undertake a sweeping £25 million refurbishment across its UK club network, supported by new funding from Barclays. The multi-year investment plan will focus on modernising venues through upgraded technology, revamped design elements, and enhanced digital infrastructure, all as part of the operator’s long-term growth strategy introduced in 2023.
The initiative begins with eight club transformations in 2025, including key locations such as Leeds and Stockport. The programme’s pilot site, Sheffield Parkway, has already reopened, setting a strong precedent for the rest of the estate. Early results show a 200% increase in footfall during its launch week, along with a 131% year-on-year rise in attendance. The venue’s transformation includes a redesigned main hall, modern lounge and bar areas, local artwork, digital signage, and dynamic AV systems—clearly designed to attract a broader, younger audience.
Upgraded Technology and New Gaming Terminals on the Way
As part of the refurbishment initiative, Buzz plans to roll out more than 10,000 electronic bingo terminals and over 1,300 new slot machines across its 82 UK clubs. Each site will also benefit from the installation of next-generation self-service bingo kiosks and fully integrated digital membership cards, improving both convenience and the overall player experience.
The reimagined experience aims to blend traditional bingo with contemporary design and advanced technology. CEO Dominic Mansour described the effort as a redefinition of what bingo can offer modern players:
“Our new investment programme will see clubs across our estate being transformed. This is all about modernising bingo for the next generation of players and taking our clubs to the next level to offer a truly unmatched experience for our players. By combining cutting-edge technology, more modern interiors and even better food and drink, we’re not just refurbishing our clubs — we’re going to be reimagining what bingo can be in the future.”
Financial Growth and Strategic Focus on Omnichannel Development
The capital injection also comes on the heels of solid financial performance for Buzz Bingo. In the 2023 financial year, the company reported a 14% increase in EBITDA, a 6% rise in net gaming revenue, and a 31% year-on-year surge in online revenue—outpacing industry trends. Retail operations also returned to growth, reinforcing the potential of land-based venues when combined with effective reinvestment.
The investment forms a core part of Buzz’s five-year roadmap to boost profitability by harnessing its omnichannel capabilities. The recent acquisition of two Merkur Bingo clubs in Northampton and Cricklewood further signals the company’s expansion ambitions in the UK market.
By pairing strategic upgrades with a data-driven vision, Buzz is positioning itself not only as a leading land-based operator but also as a forward-looking entertainment brand ready to meet changing consumer expectations.
