The arch-opponent of online gambling in Washington DC, councilman Jack Evans seems determined to stand in the way of legalization of the pastime.
This time, he wrote to the city's Office of the Inspector General asking him to include the online gambling law in his investigation into his current investigation of the DC Lottery contract, apparently being concerned because the bill may be sneakily passed attached to a supplementary budget measure.
Prior to this, Evans, who also chairs the Committee on Finance and Revenue, announced that he will hold a public hearing on the D.C. Lottery in October, and that it will include the i-gaming enquiry as well.
