One of the latest news that hit the industry is the report of a deal closed between lottery technology provider GTech Corporation and the Luxembourg Loterie Nationale, according to which GTech is to supply the Loterie with a new online and instant lottery system and digital multimedia facility.
It has been specified that the contract duration is eight years, starting from November 2012, and that it may be extended by another five years. In addition, the estimated revenues that will be derived from the deal amount to some EUR40 million.
“Loterie Nationale has been a valued GTech customer since 2001 when we first brought their instant games online,” stated GTech President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel, adding: “Over the years, our partnership has brought about mutually beneficial innovations and increased revenues through various initiatives including the deployment of fast-draw keno in 2002 and the launch of Euro Millions in 2004, all in support of good causes in Luxembourg. We will continue to work with Loterie Nationale to bring them to the next level of growth, helping them to build a strategy for the future to ensure the Lottery continues to attract today's player as well as the next generation of players.”
On the other side, it was assessed by Loterie Nationale Director Léon Losch: “We were extremely impressed with the proposal put forth by GTech. From a technology point-of-view, the new system will well enable us to grow our revenue in a fully responsible way through all available channels. Moreover, GTech has demonstrated a low risk migration strategy that will protect our revenues and reputation during the conversion process to the new system.”
