April is a special month for us here at LBB as we've chosen to honor a special charity. Kiva offers a unique way to help others. Potential borrowers must apply before their cause is listed on the Kiva website. Rather than look into one's credit, it's their character that matters. For an amount as small as $25 you can help someone with medical bills, school expenses, or costs associated with starting up a small business.
The concept is simple. Donate $25 or more and lend it to a borrower to help them reach their goal. The amounts are paid back over 6, 12 or 24 months with 0% interest. When your loan is repaid, you can then reinvest in someone else's future.
The LCB Shop currently features Kiva vouchers, which members may purchase with their LCB Shop Chips. This month is special because LBB is going to double its standard contest prize pool and offer $300 for our LBB Charity Giveaway Contest.
We are asking our members to register with Kiva as part of LCB's team in order to enter the contest. Ten members will each win a $25 Kiva voucher while the remaining $100 will be awarded in LCB Shop Chips for a total of $300 in prizes this month. All winners will be selected by random draw and if you win a charity voucher, we will credit your Kiva accounts on your behalf.
