Mavis Wancyzk, mother of two adult children, is a regular scratch-off player, but it’s not often she tries her luck on the Powerball. Needless to say, it’s a good thing she did this time around, because upon looking over her numbers with a coworker following her shift on Thursday night, she discovered she had the winning ticket. Prior to the big moment, she remembers thinking, “It’s never going to be me. It’s just a pipe dream that I’ve always had.”
Little did she know, her life was about to change forever. She took a chance on randomly generated numbers, and in a perfect turn of events, she will be the recipient of a lump sum, amounting to a cool $336 million after taxes are taken out. Not a bad way to kick off an early retirement, huh?
Immediately upon discovering her winning numbers, Mavis quit her 32-year career at Mercy Medical Center. Who can blame her? She commented, “First thing I want to do I sit back and relax.”
Sounds like she deserves it. Congrats to the lucky winner!
