Namely, after seven and a half years of the offer's duration, it reached a sales target of 80.6 million scratch tickets, which ended the game and started the one-of-a-kind "no skill involved" tournament.
The tourney saw two cards pre-assigned to each of the 560 players as three more cards (which all the players shared) were drawn in each of the three rounds; and the best five-card hand in each round advanced to the next.
Also, each of the 560 participants of the tourney held at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusetts on April 6, 2013, had initially won $2000, while 64 players who advanced in the first round received $10 000 each, and the final 12 who advanced in the second round saw a hefty take-home of $50 000.
Finally, the third round saw three finalists claim $1 million and the winner take home $10 million.
This was overwhelming for the ultimate winner, said Massachusetts State Lottery spokeswoman Beth Bresnahan, adding that after the win, Condon "was absolutely stunned".
Asked what he plans to do with the life-changing sum, Condon said he wants to pay off his house with the money which he can either take as a pre-tax lump sum of $6.5 million or annual payments of $500 000 over 20 years.
The full list of winners is yet to be announced by the Massachusetts State Lottery.
