Known locally as the famous bingo caller, classy dresser and a familiar name on Hessle Road; Kim Walker. She fought a long struggle with emphysema and passed away at 58 years of age.
On February 25th a funeral was held at St Andrew's Church. Mourning came so show their final respects as the horse drawn carriage carrying Mrs. Wallers coffin made its way through the streets towards church.
Once the funeral was over many who knew her well congregated at the Red Lion Pub in Anlaby sharing memories and stories about her.
Husband Chris Walker of 21 years paid tribute to his wife saying:
"Everyone knew Kim as a bingo caller.
She worked at her parents' bingo halls on Hessle Road, including the Eureka and Showboat, while she also worked at other bingo halls in the city.
Kim was kind-hearted and had an infectious laugh.
She will also be remembered as a straight talker. There was no beating about the bush, she would tell you the truth.
She was also something of a fashion icon and people were always interested in what she was wearing.
Kim was only 4ft 11in so she always wore platforms."
Her family the Gallaghers were a popular name in the community for bringing Bingo to Hessle Road after settling in the area in 1962.
Mrs. Waller has two children she leaves behind Candice 35 and Frankie 26.
She first met her future husband 30 years ago and wasn't until 9 years later the couple married.
Mr. Waller also added:
"It didn't matter where you were in the world, someone somewhere always knew Kim.
Once you met Kim you couldn't forget her."
