The chances of winning the jackpot on the EuroMillions is a whopping 1 in 139,838,160, which is very slim indeed. Ryan Hoyle a 38-year old from Rochdale found himself to be that lucky 1 in all those millions recently, when he discovered what he thought was a £2.30p win, was in fact a £58million!
He received an email from the National Lottery regarding his online tickets and as soon as he logged in, he couldn’t believe his eyes. The winning amount was an eight-digit sum, but still he wasn’t convinced so travelled to his parents to get them to double-check.
The father of one passed his mobile through the window to his parents who after scrutinising the digits, realised he was a multi-millionaire! He said: “Dad congratulated me from inside their house whilst Mum shouted out if she could retire now? I replied, ‘yes!’
We sat apart drinking beer on Saturday afternoon in the sunshine and tried to let the news sink in. I just couldn’t be alone, but we kept more than two metres apart. I needed to talk to them and ask their advice.”
Before his life-changing win, Mr Hoyle was helping to renovate his bothers house, what with being a joiner of 15-years and do you think the money will change that? Not one bit as he plans to carry on with his work. For the time being anyway.
“Money Won’t Change Me”
Speaking to media, Mr Hoyle said: “Mum works at the local school as a cleaner and has been struggling with a sore hip for years, so it would be great to see her take early retirement straight away. She was down for a hip replacement, but all operations are on hold at the moment due to the coronavirus crisis, so maybe I can help with that too.
And this win means my dad can stop working at the factory…
…by the end of the week too. It’s also been a tough time for one of my brothers who recently suffered a brain haemorrhage. He is a digger driver and was due back at work soon, so I can help him now and it means he’s not forced to go back to work.”
Plans have already been drawn up for his national lottery win, which will see him moving from his one-bedroom rented flat to a dream home of his own. He will also be upgrading his van for a swanky new car, purchasing a season ticket for Manchester United, jetting off to Disneyland with his daughter and getting her an iPhone 11 as soon as the banking process is completed. Even after all that, he claims he will remain modest, despite his new-found fortune.

Amazing amount of money and it’s lovely to hear of what the winners plan on doing with their cash. Money goes to people’s heads, but it seems this chap has his head sewn on.
