While today her hair may still be blue it's taken on a whole new level of punk. The demographics of the average bingo player has changed to a much younger crowd compared to years ago and Riviera Casino knows it.
The Riviera Hotel and Casino is opening a brand new bingo room August 12th 2011. The Riviera on the Las Vegas strip has had their setbacks and filed Chapter 11 in April of this year. Now under new ownership comes fresh new ideas with a new approach to bingo.
Bingo has not been echoed since the New Frontier closed their doors four years ago. While other casinos on the strip feel bingo is too risky of a venture to undertake, the Riviera is gambling on it paying off. Confident that gamblers are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere and where money is not burned up as quickly as it could be on the casino floor.
A 6000 square foot meeting room that was occupying empty space will now be turned into a luxurious bingo hall. Part of the allure will be the electronic hand held bingo devices and monitors to play on, replacing the old fashioned paper bingo cards and daubers.
The Superstar Bingo events with $200,000 in prizes will take place in the ballroom four times a year and promises to bring in a high head count. The Rivera is not the only one with a vision of bingo success. The Plaza Casino will reopen on August 24th and offer $150,000 bingo tournament with all 1,000 seats already sold out and a waiting list of 160 players.
It's new age and it's not Aquarius, instead it's new generation of bingo players who have stepped in their parents footsteps only this time with a brand new attitude.
