Body Found in 3-Month Long Hunt for Missing Bingo Winner

Incredibly sad news to bring you from the US this week in the case of the missing bingo player. Three months ago, a happy, vivacious grandmother from Watauga, Texas discovered her luck had changed when calling “house” at her local bingo hall. Once her ticket was confirmed, she was handed a large (undisclosed) sum of money. But celebrations soon led to revelations.

Carolyn Riggins like all of us when we win a game of bingo, was elated and unlike online bingo where funds are transferred to your bank, she was handed a wad of cash to do with what she pleased. But the joys end there, because after her win she was never seen again. Posters were put up and social media posts were made and shared in a bid to help track her down, but nobody had seen her since that night at the bingo back in July.

A three-month long search for the bingo winner…

…has finally come to an end after police officers discovered human remains. The body was found in Carolyn’s (missing) car in a secluded wooded area of Cooke County, Texas, just a short distance from where she was last seen alive (at bingo). Police are working the crime scene to identify the remains as well as the cause of death, but until now, they have remained tight-lipped over their suspicions.

Murdered for Money?

Disappearing without a trace was out of the blue for the retired carer, which led her family to believe something terrible had happened to her. Despite Fort Worth Police refusing to speculate on the identity of the remains found, they were found inside her 2002 Lincoln Town Car, but they have insisted it would be wrong to speculate.

A spokesperson for the Riggins’ family is sure the body is that of the missing grandmother. Speaking to NBCDFW, they said: “We are hurting now but the healing can begin now.We await positive identification, but part of us already knows…we get to lay my sweet sister to rest now. We get to commend her sweet soul to heaven.”

All of Carolyn’s credit/debit cards and her bank has been monitored closely since her disappearance back in July but the authorities are adamant there has been no coming’s or goings. What happened to her bingo winnings? Police are yet to reveal whether the money she won was in the car or not, which has led many to wonder if it is a case of death by natural causes or something far more sinister – murder!

The family have revealed the grandmother was a massive fan of true crime and they knew the minute she went missing something must have happened to her. If the body is that of Carolyn who had stroke dementia, she could very well have died from natural causes, but to drive herself to a secluded wooded area after bingo just prior to passing is very strange indeed!
