We’re living in uncertain times and quite frankly it’s scary. Many companies are facing a huge dilemma; stay open and risk the virus spreading or close and lose everything. One of those companies is Bongo’s Bingo, a brand made famous around the globe for its wacky antics, raves and ticket dabbing!
In a recent announcement, Bongo’s announced that in the light of the current climate, they had no option but to postpone all upcoming events. And, at the same time, they took a swipe at the Government for not enforcing closures.
The much-loved bingo club event slammed the UK Government for "not having the backbone to enforce venues, bars and clubs from opening." Taking to social media, they said it was "the right thing to do to prevent the spread of this disease and protect our customers".
Implications of the Government’s decision to discourage social gatherings at pubs, bars, restaurants, bingo and theatres was also brought into question, especially when the Prime Minister has not asked them to close.
The site’s team said: "Basically with the government now advising people not to go to gatherings - but not enforcing this as law - it means there is no way of claiming any insurance for huge losses which will close down a lot of businesses.”
We All Have Bills to Pay!
Those with tickets to upcoming events were told they would receive credit matching the value of the postponed tickets, which would then go towards the purchase of new tickets at a later date and a location of their choice.
The statement continued: “We also have staff, an office and bills to pay. Like any other UK company who puts on shows – or is a venue, has music, is a bar, a restaurant, café, club, pub and so many more – the events industry in the country is now left in this incredibly dire position by the Government.
This is by far the most difficult situations we have ever faced, and it is bloody scary as hell. All postponed shows will be rescheduled at later dates. You will be given credit matching the value of your postponed tickets to purchase tickets for a new date and location of your choice.
We will be in touch about the ticketing and postponement situation very soon, but please bear with us as we are under intense pressure at the moment. We really hope you all understand how difficult this is. We can’t wait to see you swinging ‘sex toys’ and having a rave down at Bongo’s Bingoagain soon. Much love and please stay safe xxx.”
Most of their fans were sympathetic. And the bonus here is that nobody will miss out. Heather Clark said: “Fully support this decision! I'd rather you paid your staff and we get to go another time whenever that may be! #lookforthehelpers”
Andria Newrik added: “Government are not stupid!! They should shut down and freeze taxes! Etc Boris is not getting my vote right now on the way he’s handling things. I have a lot of friends in business pubs clubs who are fuming, shut places down now! And stop thinking about the money and cancel all your high expenses pay your own coffers and breakfast!!”

It’s going to be a mad time. A lot of businesses will close. I can see money being phased out what with the use of debit and credit cards being demanded now. It’s a scary time for all.
