Joshua Burke, the co-founder of Bongo’s Bingo has revealed he is about to release a new app that will allow customers in the upcoming months to stay safe whilst effectively jumping the ‘queue.’ As we’re beginning to witness a new ‘norm’, more and more businesses are taking stapes to help protect themselves as well as the customer and Glug, the new app is just one of the ways this can be achieved.
If you’re like me, when it comes to eating out, I will have already looked online to see what’s on the menu so there’s no deliberating when I arrive. This is actually the smartest move and one that will be a prominent feature of the app. Buke believes Glug will fulfil social distancing requirements by minimising the contact time.
Renowned for his crazy bingo antics, Burke is taking dipping his toe into new wares with his latest invention, but we feel it’s one that will be widely used by the UK population. So how does it work? The free app will allow mobile users to reserve tables, browse a full menu, order and pay in advance which will lead to no queuing and a quicker and more efficient table service.
Burke revealed: “Having previously been involved in bringing very similar technical products to market and scaling them to national level, I am well placed to advise on key consideration, industry dynamics and help the company to build relationships and avoid common pitfalls as they grow.”
Did you know on average, we waste 7-days a year waiting to be served? I didn’t know either until Burke opened my eyes to the staggering statistic: “Each year we waste on average 7 days waiting to be served - that’s a real frustration point for me personally and professionally! Glug will make waiting around a thing of the past and improve many other parts of this relationship. With reduced capacity due to social distancing, venues will want to maximise their revenue and how they engage with customers.”
Tap App Boom!
This wasn’t exactly a new idea and wasn’t brought about by the recent global events, it was actually put into motion 3-years ago when Burke started working alongside co-founders Carl Whiteside, Lewis Allbones and David Gallimore who worked on the Wetherspoons table service app as well as Pizza Express (and a few others).
Gallimore will be adding his knowledge of the industry to the pot to deliver something that works. “I will be working with Josh and the team in the capacity of Board Advisor to help support Glug's growth with my technical and industry expertise and experience,” explained Gallimore, before continuing with:
“Having previously been involved in bringing very similar technical products to market and scaling them to national level, I am well placed to advise on key consideration, industry dynamics and help the company to build relationships and avoid common pitfalls as they grow.”
It’s a simple concept that is expected to become a major hit with businesses up and down the country. Investment was needed to get the ball rolling and to date, they have already secured £250K. Burke co-founded Bongo’s Bingo with Johnny Lacey in Liverpool some years ago and has become a global sensation!
It may be a while before we see the renowned bingo games being mixed with disco dancing, alcohol drinking and fun-filled antics, but this hasn’t stopped them engaging with fans on social media. Why not give them a follow to keep up to date with the latest crazy bingo news?

What a great idea. I have used this in Wetherspoons, but you need to be there to be able to use it. If we can use this from home and pay before you go, it would be great!
