Camelot, which is in charge of the UK National Lottery, announced that all those who wish to buy tickets and play need to be UK or Isle of Man residents and physically present in the country. This new regulation enters into force on Dec. 13, 2010.
Even though at the moment players can use interactive accounts to buy tickets from abroad, this may result in violation of the local laws on gambling and make the ticket and its potential winnings null and void. In favor of this, Camelot spokesman said that "The general rule of thumb is that if any overseas country has its own lottery, playing the UK one will be illegal".
