I've been in bingo halls and thought that certain people didn't look like the type. In reality I don't really know what the type is. I got to thinking more about this after going out with some friends. We sat around the table at dinner and had conversation that led to bingo and gambling. One of the diners in our group was not someone I knew well. She started talking about her good luck charms and the frustration of 1tg and even her love of pull tabs. It took me a moment to process what she was saying because I didn't take her for a gambler. She was a bingo fanatic!
What was it about her that surprised me so? Okay so here's what she looked like. She was maybe in her late thirties, shoulder length dark hair, very petite and appeared very conservative. Was it conservative look that made it seem like there was no way she could be a bingo player? After all, it does require a certain level a coolness, right?
She continues to tell us how she got started playing bingo. She was introduced to the game by a friend who was a fellow fan of the game and became hooked.
The only thing left for her to do was to venture into the world of online bingo. These were uncharted waters for her.
After our evening out, I emailed her a link to one of my favorite online bingo websites. I encouraged her to play for free and check things out.
It takes all kinds to play bingo. In terms of a type of player, it could be anyone from the next person in line at the grocery store to your friend's sister's aunt's boyfriend's friend. I no longer assume that there is a type; instead I walk around assuming everyone is a bingo player!
