Joseph “Fred” Parry, 101 Year Old Bingo Lover Passes Away Peacefully
Joseph “Fred” Parry spent much of his time playing bingo in a Plymouth, Devon Gala Bingo hall in the UK. He even celebrated his 100th birthday with his Gala Bingo community. He became known to his friends as Fred. The perfect gift for this special player was a lifetime of free bingo which Fred made good use of for just over a year. He passed away peacefully in his daughter's home but was still playing bingo just days before.

His daughter commented to a local newspaper: "He (Fred) had a wonderful life and loved his bingo," said daughter Christine, aged 64.

"He went to bingo on the Monday and died on the Thursday," she said.

"It was all very sudden, very peaceful in his sleep, but it was a shock in a way. He was just poorly for a day and just fell asleep.

"He used to sit out in the front garden in Lanhydrock Road where we lived and people would always say hello to him.

"He will be sadly missed by all his family."

Gala Bingo Club Operations Manager, Neil Walker also commented: "Fred, our eldest customer, just liked coming and having a little game, all the customers knew him.

"He used to have a pocket full of Kit Kats for the staff and used to say to them 'have a break'.

"He would win the odd £50 or £100 but it was more about the community for him."

Funeral services are being held July 17, 2012. Fred lived a full life of love and bingo.
