National Lottery Pledge £300M to Support the Most Vulnerable UK Communities

From EuroMillions to Thunderball, Lotto to Set for Life, every ticket purchased goes to support worthy causes up and down the UK and they need it more than ever right now. Thanks to you, £300m is going directly to support communities in these exceptional times, and this means the most vulnerable in communities across the UK will not be forgotten.

Every week, it’s estimated that £30m is raised for projects both big and small and now, hundreds of millions of pounds will be distributed to charities and local voluntary organisations over the coming months to support people through the Coronavirus crisis.

Food banks and support for organisations that combat loneliness and isolation will be among those receiving funds from The National Lottery along with projects that support the elderly in many different communities.

Nigel Railton, CEO of Camelot: “Week in, week out, National Lottery players make a huge difference to the lives of people and communities across the UK. Just by buying a ticket, players in every nation have helped raise over £40 billion for good cause projects, from supporting our athletes to repairing scout huts.

Now, more than ever, The National Lottery can play a critical role in supporting our communities as we all face this challenge together. Up to £300Million raised by National Lottery players will be helping to fund vital work in local communities at a time when it’s needed the most.”

Dawn Austwick, Chief Executive of The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “The Fund has always supported projects that help people and communities across the UK thrive. And now, the Fund is switching its focus for the foreseeable future on supporting charities seeking to mitigate the unprecedented pressure communities are coming under as the country rallies to overcome the virus.”

Self-Isolation Self-Aware

We’re all being urged to stay at home what with ‘lockdown’ in effect, and while we can continue to play bingo online (and lottery and casino games), it’s important that we don’t play more than we can afford, especially in such uncertain times. We urge you to make use of gambling tools that are offered across the board – these allow you to keep track of your spending and stop you from spending more than you can afford.

Worried you’re playing too much? TAKE A BREAK! Playing bingo games should be fun but when the fun stops, you should stop. All operators offer gambling help in the form of cooling off periods as well as self-exclusions (for a longer period of time). But, if you’re a member of more than one site, you may want to implement the ban on gambling transactions which is currently being offered by major banking groups.

LBB’ers, stay home, following Government advice and more importantly, stay safe!
