Here we are once again LBB’ers – more news on those who keep the iGaming industry cogs spinning. Having only just digested the news of NetEnt’s upcoming Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen slot, now we’re hearing of two new exciting products from the award-winning software provider. One is indeed a slot machine and the other is what goes inside the reel engine.
Over the last couple of days, information has been leaked regarding a brand-new community jackpot system, but it’s not your usual spin and hope to land a win feature. It’s something far, far more exciting….
…NetEnt unveils their ground-breaking community jackpot system and just like a loyalty points-based system, you’ll be collecting as you play in order to (hopefully) cash-in. It’s nothing like the Red Tiger Gaming series of ‘must go jackpots,’ what with more people winning at the same time.
Power to the People
Starburst PowerPots is an innovative new jackpot concept that allows players to collect starburst tokens across multiple casino game operators for the chance to win a community jackpot with other players. As the saying goes; those who play together, stay together and this is certainly the strapline for Swedish software providers latest product.
How it works is simple; it’s that simple in fact, I’m wondering why nobody has thought of this before! You know community bingo games, the likes of those on Buzz Bingo and Mecca Bingo, well, all the players in the room with tickets into the game will share the jackpot if someone else wins it – that’s exactly how PowerPots operates.
Players will play together to full up those PowerPots and when that progress bar is full, the community pot will be divided among all those who filled it up, even if they’re offline at the time.
Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games, couldn’t wait to spill the beans on their latest innovation: “Starburst PowerPots was developed in line with our customers’ and players’ expectations, taking cue on everything from art assets to mechanics. We are using leading edge games design approaches to make this jackpot family with our most powerful games simple to understand yet compelling. Using the Starburst brand will create massive acquisition while these jackpot mechanics will drive huge engagement for players…
…This is community gaming without the overengineering and overthought on what slot players really want. This product can fit into any operator’s portfolio and deliver any experience, from large life changing prizesto super-fast hitting jackpots.”
Best Performing Games
The Jackpot system will be rolled out across a series of NetEnt’s best performing titles for a range of different prizes. Judging by the name given, the highly attractive deep-space adventure thriller known as Starburst will be the first on that list.
Very little is known regarding the true mechanics behind the system; is there a minimum spend, or minimum bet? Does everyone get an equal share or are the cash prizes based on bet amount? It wouldn’t be fair if low stakes players who spend just a couple of quid were to walk away with a big slice of the pie – the same amount as high rollers, so there must be more to this than meets the eye.

Sounds pretty good to be honest but like you say, what aren’t they telling us? It will probably be based on the amount you’ve spent, so those spending big money will get a bigger piece and how do we know how many have contributed? It could be millions, so that pot won’t seem so generous after all.
