On Friday, Gov. Mike Beebe proposed a ban on the state lottery which would prohibit it from launching monitor games.
Monitor games are actually drawings held every few minutes with results displayed on monitor screens at lottery retailers, technology that lottery director Bishop Woosley is attempting to launch in September to increase revenue.
“The monitor is a TV that hangs on the wall that displays the drawings,” Woosley told reporters Friday. “It'll be done in the same way that a Powerball drawing or a Mega Millions drawing gets done, except that the drawings occur more frequently.
"You'll buy the ticket just like you do a Powerball ticket: You'll walk up to the counter and hand your money to the clerk.”
The special session to discuss the proposed ban will commence on Monday and is anticipated to last for 3 days.
