According to a GTech official, the company may also form an alliance with the country's state postal service which operates the current license, and the 20-year license, which is not part of Ireland's main Euro 3 billion privatization plan under its EU-IMF bailout, will be sold via a bidding competition later this year.
On the way of achieving this, GTech may have to face some stiff competition in shape of the British lottery operator Camelot which also plans to bid for the license, which could cost up to Euro 400 million.
Regarding a joint bid with the An Post postal service, GTech's COO for Europe, Declan Harkin said: "Obviously working together is something I'd like to think both companies could continue to consider very strongly."
