You don’t expect to go into a bingo hall and be sexually assaulted by a member of the bingo staff, nor do you expect to be sexually assaulted when at a disco, but that’s exactly what happened up there in Bonnie Scotland in separate incidents that have rocked Dundee. Jonathan McKinlay, a bingo worker has recently been found guilty of assaulting two women; twice on the same woman at the bingo venue in which he worked and in a separate incident at a local nightclub.
The alleged offences took place between 2018 and 2019 but only now has it come to court. One of the women revealed to Dundee Sheriff Court that she had been traumatised by the incident, but the groper was having none of it but proclaiming he was innocent “But I didn’t do any of this” he said, and even went as far as to say he himself was the victim – the victim of a conspiracy.
Guilty Verdict
McKinlay, according to his defence solicitor, is a “man of good character” who was a credible and reliable member of society, but the judge and jury could see through the façade! The prosecutor heard how McKinlay attacked his first victim sometime between 1st and 31st December 2018 in the Rewind nightclub. A few months later on April 1st, 2019, he grabbed another woman’s breasts at when at bingo. Nine days later, McKinlay placed his hands on the same woman’s body and pulled her closer to his so he and her were touching. Charges which were all lies according to bingo worker!
Prosecutor Lynne Mannion urged Sheriff George Way to…
…throw the book at him: “I would submit that there is a course of conduct and that there was a gradual escalation in that conduct. I would submit the complainers gave evidence in a calm manner. They did not embellish their evidence. The accused’s position is that none of these allegations happened and that these women are making it all up.”
Defence solicitor, Gary McIlravey, told the court that his client was a victim of a conspiracy because he had previously told one of the women she was lazy. Now, was that the woman at the nightclub or the woman who was at the bingo? We’ll never know because he didn’t say! McKinlay was found guilty of the three counts of sexual assault but not guilty on a fourth. Sentence has been deferred until December however, the guilty man must be placed on the sex offenders register for his crimes.

Absolutely crazy! Anyone could see he was guilty! Those women will be scarred for life! I hope he serves a jail sentence so he can think about what he did over a lengthy period behind bars!
