The death of a woman referred to as “The Bingo Queen” was murdered fifteen years ago.
Olga Parlante, 71, was found strangled in her South Florida home and a suspect has finally surfaced.
The technology involved in fingerprinting has come a long way since 1997 and police have come up with a match after researching the old case files. The suspect is a 44 year old man, Bennie Hall, who spent his life as a criminal. He was traced back to a jail cell serving time to an unrelated offense. First-degree murder charges are being filed against Hall but police do not believe that he committed the crime alone.
Parlante was found beaten and strangled to death in her apartment. It was also apparent that a blouse was tied around her neck and she was being forced back into her apartment after attempting to crawl away. CBS news in Florida reported that a television set, portable radio and mantel clock were missing from her apartment.
She was known as "The Bingo Queen" due to her love of playing bingo daily at a local bingo hall.
"I want to be able to look that person in the eye and say why did you do this to my mother," Parlante's son, Mark Parlante, told the station. "Why couldn't you just sit her down and take the couple of things that you took and leave her alone."
