No less than four new online slots and bingo games have been released by Play’n GO this week, taking the total number of new games in 2020 to twenty-one. If they’re to keep up with their promise of 52 new releases this year, they better step it up a bit, because we’re still behind despite four appearing this last week.
According to my diary (which is gathering dust this year!), we are week 26, so this means five games behind schedule. If they can produce four in such as short space of time, we’ve a feeling they can reach their target.
The latest slot to drop is Troll Hunters 2, a sequel to the original, Troll Hunters. The grid-based slot is centred around a trio of female troll hunters, Ylva, Borghild and Astrid, who will stop at nothing in order to protect their village. The previous release was a major success and was even part of a social media campaign where players tweeted the hashtag #2019GameOfTheYear, but it came to nothing.
In this revamped version, each character has their own unique bonus and players can decide which character they would prefer to play with. The suppliers well-known ‘win spin’ feature is also in action and this will guarantee there to be a win on each spin, but only if you manage to activate it.
Take it From Me
When an announcement is made regarding a new release, I’m always quick to try it so I can give my honest opinion. There’s no point looking for a summary of the game from someone who hasn’t even played it. Now that would be silly. It’s styled very much in the same format as that of Energoonz and to be honest, so too is the bonus. Too much ‘Deja-vu’ going on for my liking!
Playing with £1 stakes, I manage to land the bonus round (eventually!) and opted for 7 bonus spins with a troll multiplier of 2x. The spins are fast, even though turbo was inactive, and it took less than a minute for my spins to come to a conclusion – staring me in the face was a win of £0, zilch, nada! Disappointing didn’t even come close to what I was feeling.
The graphics, design and audio are superb, but it’s a fast game and this means your money will go down fast, unless you manage to land a win of a lifetime that is. The bonus round is harder to trigger than it looks, what with the word BONUS moving to different positions behind the symbols. Would I play Troll Hunters 2 again? Probably not. I like a slower pace of play and more of a return on my stake.
Martin Zettergren, CPO of Play’n GO, believes that creating sequels is important but it requires a delicate balance: “There are many factors to consider when creating a sequel, or adding to a series of games. While you want to capture the familiarity of the original and keep the elements that made it successful in the first place, you can’t simply re-tread old ground and expect the same results!
We’ve always maintained that we only revisit titles when we feel we can bring a new dimension to what’s gone before, and Troll Hunters 2 is a perfect example.”

Don’t want to sound like a party-pooper, but they’re supposed to be releasing NEW games, not titles that have been tweaked here and there. Quite disappointed with this one.
