Add one more to the pile. Last week, a 57-year-old former military technician from the Nova Scotia region in Canada has won a lottery jackpot of $1.2 million! 'Nice,' we can hear you thinking to yourself, 'the money will do the lady good after many years of hard service.' That may be, but not without some casualties along the way.
Turns out, Barbara Reddick had, prior to entering her lottery ticket, agreed with her 19-year-old cousin, Tyrone MacInnis, to put his name alongside hers, as well - for good luck, for as she admits, Tyrone always brought her good luck. So, the two have won the big jackpot. However, when they both came to collect the prize and pose with the oversized check, that's when things turned ugly.
According to Barbara, she never intended to split the prize half-way with Tyrone - something she allegedly told him before she got the call telling her she won $1.2 million. Though, that's exactly what Tyrone demanded - that he, having his name on the ticket, receive up half of the prize. "He's always lucky with his draws, right? I said 'Well, put your name on the ticket and you'll be my good luck charm.' I didn't say split. I never mentioned money at all," Barbara tells her side of the story. She added, "I would have given him $150,000. Listen, Tyrone was the son that I never had. Me and Tyrone - ask anybody - we're very, very close."
Tyrone was still of the opinion he should get half the prize and did not back down, but neither did Barbara. "Tyrone is getting nothing from me. It's just for the principle. We were so close. He broke my heart. He broke it. People go crazy when it comes to money. I'll never speak to him. In this lifetime or the next."
Barbara threatens to sue Tyrone if he continues to lay claim on what she sees as hers and only her prize money.
Here's the video of the crazy story.
What was it that they said about money and it being the root of all evil? Is this necessarily so? Weigh in with your two cents (you don't even have to split it half-way with us, it's all yours) in the comments below.

These kind of things are always disgusting. I think the guy should've got his share. After all, it was his name on there as well. But yeah... just sad.
