Bingo to ‘Set You Free’ at Glasgow Venue This October with 90’s Music Legends N-Trance

Can you remember the 1990’s? The decade was immersed in dance music as well as some rather eyebrow raising incidents including in-depth discussions on whether there was room for Jack on the raft after the Titanic sunk (yes there was Rose!) as well as wondering which of the Spice Girls we were the equivalent of; baby, scary, ginger, posh or sporty!

The 90’s were great, and I remember them vividly as I was a young girl growing up with three older sisters. For me, it featured a series of ‘hand-me downs’ plus constant chants of ‘football’s coming home’ thanks to Badiel and Skinner and the Lightning Seeds. Whether you were an England football fan or not, you must have felt something when they were knocked out of the Italy World Cup in 1990 – Gazza was weeping like a baby.

Things We Love About the 90’s:

Geri Halliwell started a new fashion trend when she appeared in the Brit Awards wearing an upcycled Union Jack style tea-towel dress and wearing a choker in broad daylight became an acceptable form of attire. When I think back to that, how I cringe!

The Labour Party won with Tony Blair at the helm with a landslide victory – something never seen before and I don’t think we’ll see this again, thanks to the Brexit mess we’re in now. One other thing we’ll all remember is that the majority of girls wore Impulse or White Musk from the Body Shop and the boys wore Old Spice or Joop – those were the days!

Go Bonkers for Bingo:

One of the most popular bands from the 90’s was N-Trance; the band who released the chart-topping ‘Set You Free’ release (featuring Kelly Llorena) and it’s still played at nightclubs around the globe to this very day. Not only will you be able to dance along to the music at your local disco, but on October 4th, you’ll be able to watch the perform live…from a UK bingo hall!

That’s right, on the 4th October in Mecca Bingo in Glasgow, N-Trance will be performing to a bingo daubing crowd and it’s set to be a sell-out performance. Paul McGlinchey, club manager at Mecca Glasgow Forge, said: “This event is the ultimate night out – people genuinely go Bonkers for Bingo. This time we have even more wacky prizes up for grabs, delicious food and cocktails on offer, as well as music from N-Trance and a few extra surprises thrown in.”

He continued: “Past events have been incredible, so we’re excited to be welcoming locals back into the mad house that is Bonkers Bingo, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.”

A bingo session will continue as normal with the band set to take to the stage at 9:30pm. The event will run until midnight and tickets can be purchased from the Eventbrite website.

What do you make of this? Should bands be allowed to perform in bingo halls? Let us know your thoughts below. For me, I think it’s a win-win situation; an evening of prize-winning opportunities and music!
