Bingo has been a form of entertainment for centuries with people turning up at various outlets to experience the thrill of dabbing a ticket while getting social, but for many of us, this isn’t an option anymore, which is why more and more of us are turning to online bingo. And while we’re on the subject of things we can’t do anymore, charities are suffering and, in a bid, to combat the deficit from 2020, one charitable organisation from Kent and Sussex is turning to virtual bingo, only with a twist.
Over the last 12-months we’ve heard all kinds of weird and wonderful bingo events – from Bongo’s Bingo where things get really wild, to Drag bingo and drive-thru bingo! Organisers really are having to put their thinking caps on if they’re to survive and one of those is the Martha Trust, a charity that supports young people and adults with profound disabilities.
Stand-Up Comedy Bingo
Brendan Riley will be hosting three-months of virtual comedy bingo events on Saturday January 30th, February 27th and March 27th at 7pm where fun is very much at the heart of the game. An evening of thrills and prize spills are guaranteed and it’s all in support of the Martha Trust and you’re invited to tag along! All you need is a computer, access to Zoom and you’re half-way there!
A fee of just £10 per adult will guarantee you a spot in the fundraising event, but children can play for free. Each player will be assigned a bingo card with a clear set of instructions on how to play, all of which will be sent to you prior to the scheduled event. Want in? Head to the website to secure your spot.
Fundraising & Events Officer Kerry Banks BEM said: “In an ever-changing climate with the pandemic and another lockdown, we wanted to still be able to fundraise safely plus have fun at the same time as I always say: the first three letters of Fundraising is FUN! If you have children playing, then it will assist with number skills. It is a great way to spend Saturday night with family and friends online safely; having fun and knowing you are directly supporting our very special guys and girls with profound disabilities.”
And, it has long since been proven that bingo is great for the mind, so it does kind of help with the kids home-schooling after all. Banks continued: "We have some great prizes and will also hold a small auction. If you can supply an auction prize, I would love to hear from you! Wherever you live in the country, you can join us and if you are lucky to win prizes, then we will box up and post out to you, courtesy of Postage Supermarket so please encourage your friends and family to sign up too!”

Shame I’m not on Zoom, I love helping out charities when I can and if it involves bingo, all the better!
