The proprietary software-powered online bingo site Tombola.co.uk has clinched a sponsorship deal with the UK Premier League club Sunderland AFC and will make its debut at the football club's first home game - against Birmingham City - on August 14th.
Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn said this week that the football club and the gambling site share the same home city and regional values, generating good partnership possibilities for both organisations.
"Sponsoring Sunderland AFC is a fantastic opportunity for Tombola," said the bingo site's CEO Phil Cronin. "With our own head office here in Sunderland we have been able to see the work that Niall and his team have done to transform the fortunes of the club. We're really looking forward to working with Sunderland and we're confident that this sponsorship will help us achieve our own ambitions."
In terms of the agreement, Tombola will become club sponsor for an initial two-year period, with its branding on Sunderland's new home and away shirts for the 2010-11 season and across key sites throughout the club's Stadium of Light.
A spokesman said that Tombola hopes that the partnership and the global exposure that top-flight football brings will raise awareness of the company's bingo products to a new audience.
