A new announcement came this week from Lottomatica Group S.p.A.'s subsidiary GTECH, which reported of an agreement it has inked with a consortium of companies, based on which it will supply lottery technology, equipment and software services for a new online lottery in Madagascar.
Some of the companies that form part of the consortium are Lotwin Investments LTD and subsidiary Reel Mada SA, which has been authorized, together with its affiliates, to operate an online lottery in Madagascar through contractual agreements with Société d'Exploitation de Loterie, a quasi government-owned entity set up to operate, or contract with third parties to operate lotteries on the island.
According to GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel, “GTECH is pleased to provide the technology, support services, and game development necessary to operate an online lottery in Madagascar. We will deliver a world-class lottery platform and solutions specifically tailored for the market of Madagascar. We have already established a great partnership with Lotwin and its subsidiaries, and we look forward to working with them on this new project.”
His Lotwin counterpart Jean-Pierre Desbiens commented: “After our successful implementation last year for Loterie Nationale in Mauritius, GTECH was our logical choice to provide the technology and support for our project in Madagascar. We want to ensure an equally successful launch, and we are confident in GTECH's ability to deliver the best solutions for Madagascar.”
It was further announced that the system should go live sometime in February, and that a weekly jackpot lotto game will be launched initially.
