Is Bolton set to become an open all hour’s borough? An ex-bookmaker is at the centre of a 24-hour gambling bid by Praesepe, a British company who specialise in bingo, arcade gaming and casino gambling. If given the green light by authorities, the high street gambling chain owner of Cashino aims to bring a wealth of gambling games to the residents of Bolton, along with complimentary snacks and drinks.
Proposals have earmarked the former Ladbrokes property to become a 24-hour, 7 day a week venue in rather ambitious plans to improve the area’s nightlife scene. It’s proposed there would be five full time staff employed at the building, which is a welcome boost for those seeking employment in the area.
The plans said: “The use will contribute to a wider diversification of uses in the [Deane Road local shopping centre], while helping to improve the evening and night-time economy. The proposed change of use is considered to be a proactive response to the changing retail and town centre environment, which is reflected in national policy and guidance documents.”
Planning agents believe the 24-hour operation will not have any negative impact on the area due to there being no residential properties in close proximity to the proposed gambling venue.
The Verdict
Nobody knows why the former tenant of the building disappeared so quickly. One-minute Ladbrokes were there, the next they were gone. One local speaking to local media stated that the bookies disappeared “overnight” some months before Christmas. However, neighbouring premises said they knew it was coming as the business was “not working.”
Planning officers are due to deliver an outcome on the application next month. But who are Cashino? A Merkur owned brand who are synonymous with the online casino industry, however, you will find plenty of their gaming terminals at land-based venues such as Mecca Bingo, Buzz Bingo and Castle Bingo. Popular games include both casino games and bingo games at venues up and down the United Kingdom. From Plymouth to Edinburgh, Cashino offers around the clock gambling fun with the chance to win huge jackpots.
Merkur currently has more than 60-years’ experience in the business with a history stretching back to 1957 when Paul Gauselmann created the German Gauselmann Group. The huge enterprise has been swallowing up the competition over the years to ensure they remain, and the forefront of the gambling industry and it seems to be working.
To date, they have more than 200 slots to choose from with impressive and innovative features. Blazing Star with its traditional fruity fun and Triple Chance could be among those hitting the Bolton high street soon enough.

Not sure the locals will approve of that one. Bolton can be quite shall we say rowdy at the best of times, add to that a 24-hour gaming and drinking venue and you could have one hell of a problem on your hands.
