The latest news from Gravesend, UK involve reports of a police investigation against a convenience store clerk who apparently tried to con a lottery winner out of a major win.
Everything happened when lottery punter Callum Crosier, who was entrusted with the ticket by a workplace syndicate, was told by the clerk that he had won only GBP20 on the ticket. The clerk detained the ticket, Crosier suspected something, and decided to check with the lottery – only to find out that he had actually won GBP 79,887.
Upon the revelation, the lottery's security department called the police, launched an investigation and suspended all sales of its tickets at the store in question.
According to the shop owner's son, the clerk had been fired, despite his claims that he was innocent and had merely made a mistake whilst distracted.
