Mecca Bingo and Carers Trust have teamed up to host free bingo sessions for carers this month, the games will be launching as part of Giving Tuesday on December 3rd. A dedicated recreational zone has been set up exclusively for carers every Tuesday throughout the month where free bingo games will be played.
Working alongside Carers Trust, Rank-owned Mecca will be hosting free bingo sessions which will not only deliver chances of winning cash but will also allow those taking part to socialize with others in the caring community. It’s estimated that there are approximately 6.5 unpaid carers in the UK and many of this provider assistance to loved ones with severe illnesses or disabilities around the clock, which would make it difficult for them to find time for themselves.
Carers in Birkenhead (Liverpool) will be given the opportunity to take some much-needed time out each Tuesday afternoon (from 12:30) in December, with space for them to bring along the person which they care for. The buffet cart will be open with a selection of hot and cold meals and desserts plus there is a bar and hot drinks available.
Natasha Baxter, general manager at Mecca Bingo Birkenhead, said: “Christmas is always a magical time of year here in the club and we are proud to be launching our Mecca Full House zone alongside the Carers Trust. Our recreational area will provide unpaid carers in the area, who do not have many opportunities to enjoy the festivities, a safe space to relax in. There’s always something special about our local community coming together in the club to kick start the festive season.”

What a wonderful thing to do. Shame it’s not being rolled out across the country, as I know a few carers who would love this.
