Mecca Bingo Upgrades All UK Venues With Light & Wonder’s Equinox Terminals

Light & Wonder has entered into a comprehensive agreement with Mecca Bingo to overhaul gaming technology across all 50 of its UK venues. The large-scale rollout includes the installation of 850 Equinox gaming terminals and the hardware upgrade of 645 existing T8 cabinets with the new Mk8i system.

The enhancements are aimed at extending the lifespan of Mecca’s current infrastructure while ensuring compatibility with evolving content and platform demands. The Mk8i hardware will help support a broader content portfolio, boosting long-term technical performance across Mecca locations.

Videobet Platform Adopted Ahead of Regulatory Shifts

In addition to the hardware overhaul, Mecca will integrate Light & Wonder’s Videobet platform. This move positions the company to seamlessly adapt to potential future changes in the UK's gaming regulations. The platform provides enhanced backend capabilities and is designed to maintain compliance while enabling continued access to B3, B4, and Category C content offerings.

Light & Wonder stated that the initiative will improve operational consistency across Mecca’s estate while delivering an enhanced user experience for players. Among the content already made available on the upgraded system is Rainbow Riches Blazing Lock, which is reportedly performing well in its early deployment.

Strong Industry Partnership with Eye on the Future

Praising the rollout, Iain Graham, Slots Director at Mecca Bingo, noted: “From planning to installation, Light & Wonder’s professionalism and meticulous attention to detail have been exceptional. We are already seeing a clear uplift in revenue and are excited for what the future holds with Light & Wonder as a trusted collaborator.”

Wayne Ellard, Vice President and Managing Director for EMEA at Light & Wonder, added: “This upgrade gives [Mecca’s] venues a strong foundation for the future while improving the player experience across the board.”

Rollout Coincides With Strategic Growth for Light & Wonder

The project marks a key milestone in Light & Wonder’s ongoing expansion. Just last month, the company completed its $850 million acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable assets, strengthening its presence in regulated U.S. markets.

In addition, the firm posted $774 million in revenue for Q1 2025, securing its 16th consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth—a sign of its continued momentum across global gaming verticals.

With this new rollout, Light & Wonder is reinforcing its position not only as a technology provider but also as a strategic partner for major operators preparing for the future of regulated gaming in the UK.
