Mecca Bingo and The National Bingo Game get together each year to honour bingo callers up and down the country. This year, there was fierce competition between five finalists all looking to take home the ‘Host of the Year’ accolade, but there could only be one winner.
Bingo players voted in their masses for the host they thought was the best and now, that host has been revealed as Jason Davies, the popular bingo caller from Mecca Wrexham. Jason managed to win the most prestigious bingo award and will now go on to compete in the National Bingo Caller of the Year 2019 competition, which is scheduled to take place on November 24th.
Stiff competition:
The popular Wrexham bingo caller beat off stiff competition from four rival bingo callers, all talented within their own rights, but the winner was to be crowned via a Facebook poll and bingo fans were swayed with his enthusiastic and fun approach to the bingo game .
The results came as quite a shock for a handful of bingo fans, what with Jason only having two years’ experience within the bingo field whilst many of his rival competitors had decades of experience under their belt. Despite this, Jason won over the crowds with the way he incorporates Welsh phrases into his calls, which put him miles above the rest. Other than the odd angry emoji on Facebook, there’s been no sign of sour grapes, which is what we like to see.
Taking to social media, Mecca Bingo announced the winner for all to see with dramatic news headlines: “WINNER announcement #HostOfTheYear2019
The votes are in and Jason Davies from Mecca Wrexham is our WINNERRRRR. Jason will now compete in the National Bingo Caller of the Year 2019 competition in Birmingham. Stay tuned for more details.”

What Next?
The next step for Jason is to continue calling the bingo numbers with his unique and exclusive style before facing even more competition in the National Game’s Caller of the Year 2019 competition next month. The winner from the next event will not only be crowned as the overall winner but will also receive a cheque for £1000.

Jason was clearly one of those that stood out as soon as I watched all of the finalist’s videos, bringing his energy and unique Welsh calls to the game. Congratulations.
