Casino developer, Ronnie Gilley has been sentenced to 80 months for admittedly conspiring with lobbyist, Jarrod Massey in an effort to bribe lawmakers for their votes regarding gambling legislation. Massey received 65 months for his involvement. Former Coffee County Rep. Terry Spicer came clean and admitted to taking bribes which has landed him 57 months in jail.
"I'm accepting responsibility for the crimes that I committed and the mistakes that I've made. As for as me elaborating on what took place with those other two trials, I think everybody has been through enough. I think it is time to move past this issue and let's get this state back on the right track again," said Gilley as he exited the courthouse.
By August 27th, all three individuals must turn themselves into to federal authorities.
The defendants involved in the trial were acquitted.
