Back in July, The National Game launched its nationwide search for the best bingo caller in the UK and Mecca Bingo needs your help to pick a winner. There’s little under a week left to cast your votes, but before you go putting a cross next to your favourite, it’s time to reveal who the five shortlisted nominees are and where they’re from!
- Name: Matty Larsen
- Club location: Mecca Bingo Brierly Hill
- Qualities: Matty is living proof that you don’t have to have years of bingo calling behind you to be nominated for such an award, because he only started his bingo calling journey little over a year ago. Engaging with customers is one of his exclusive qualities and he always ensures everyone is having a good time.
- Name: Ricky Denton
- Club location: Mecca Bingo Wood Green
- Qualities: Ricky has been calling bingo numbers for more than four decades and his performing skills on the stage is what sets him apart from the competition. His love of bingo goes all the way back to when he was 18-years old; when his mother dragged him along to their local bingo hall for some bingo daubing fun. Victor Odulate, the manager of Mecca Bingo Wood Green said: “We are very excited here at Mecca Bingo to have Ricky make the final five out of everyone in Britain. We’d love local support to vote for Ricky and see him being crowned the ‘Host of the Year’ and maybe the National Bingo Game Caller of the Year 2019.”
Three to Go:
- Name: Bradley Hatfield
- Club location: Mecca Bingo Doncaster
- Qualities: Bradleys is just 22-years old and has been a member of the Mecca Bingo Doncaster team for approximately 18-months and he thinks he should win because of the unique style he brings to his bingo calling sessions. You’re guaranteed a laugh and a good time when Bradley is calling your numbers and if you win it’s a bonus
- Name: Jason Davies
- Club location: Mecca Bingo Wrexham
- Qualities: For 2-years now, Jason has been a caller at Mecca Bingo Wrexham, and he loves every minute of it. Jason tries his best to incorporate Welsh phrases into the bingo session and this brings plenty of unique fun and this is the reason he’s stood out. Mike Etherington, general manager at Mecca Bingo Wrexham, said: "We are very excited here at Mecca Bingo to have Jason make the final five out of everyone in Britain. We'd love local support to vote for Jason and see him being crowned the 'Host of the Year' and maybe even the National Bingo Game Caller of the Year 2019.''

- Name: Loz Williams
- Club location: Mecca Bingo Beeston
- Qualities: Despite only being a member of the Mecca Bingo Beeston team for 8-months, Loz has been working in the bingo industry for 14-years and loves his job – he also considers himself to be very much the underdog in this competition.
Who is your favourite Mecca Bingo caller? You can cast your votes on the Mecca Facebook page until 27th September and the callers with the most votes will be placed into a category for each of the area managers to select one regional winner each and this will be based on a list of criteria, including: customer engagement, personality and going the extra mile.
The finalist will then be entered into a national final where they will represent Mecca Bingo. And this will ultimately see the winner crowned ‘Caller of the Year’ from The National Game and will be presented with £1000 prize money.
