On Tuesday 18th, Tombola announced the arrival of a brand-new and exclusive bingo game – The Machine and as usual, players flocked to the game in their masses. Intrigue and excitement bounced around the chat feature as the games were about to begin, but it wasn’t long before an influx of “how do you play this” started to flood the chat.
There’s nothing worse than hundreds of people asking the same thing over and over, especially when there are guides on how to play perfectly poised to the top of the page.
Kind of ruins the whole point of chat entertainment when you’ve a room full of players who refuse to read the rules.
Copy and paste was a true friend to the chat hosts on launch night, but I for one couldn’t stomach the constant questions over and over again. So, I decided to put this guide together for those of you who are unsure of how to play…
…There are three ways to win per game and each bingo game will cost either 10p, 25p, 50p or £1. The price you pay will ultimately determine how much you can win. When the game begins, there are two cogs; one silver and one gold. Eight numbers are housed on the silver and 12 on the gold.
When a called number matches a number on either of those cogs, it is marked off automatically. Match all 8 numbers for the silver prize and all 12 for the gold. Naturally, if more than one person calls on the same number, the prizes are shared.
It’s Getting Hot in Here!
Just like Queen, you’ll be “Under Pressure” with the third way to win. Sat directly beneath the cog is a pressure gauge with six points. The pressure prize is a bonus and a shortcut to winning all of the prizes still left in play. To win this way, you need six numbers called within the visor…
…Wait. What? Okay, so this is the part that really had players scratching their heads in amazement. Sounds totally absurd but in all honesty, it’s so simple. When numbers are called, a blue magnifying glass will hover over one or two; one is attached to the silver cog and the other to the gold. Say number 10 on the silver cog and number 21 on the gold are beneath the visor and number 10 is called, that’s one number less you need for that pressure prize.
A total of six numbers under the visor being called will steal the prize(s) away from under everyone else’s nose! A few players did that on launch night and walked away with hundreds of pounds. If you’re still unsure of what to do, why not check out the tutorial video on the Facebook page for better understanding.
Like all games, the number of players trying to win will soar during the first week. One room had upwards of 900 people in when I decided to try my luck (I didn’t win anything sadly). There are four rooms to choose from, but even still, the chances of winning are stacked against you.
Don’t let that put you off though. Unlike the other games at Tombola, this one has no jackpot element, that being said, they’ve created a stunning game that seems to be ticking all the right boxes. Will you be giving it a try?

Sounds like a good game! I’ll have to give it a shot this weekend.
