Over in Ireland, two lucky bingo players have hit the headlines after winning more than €14,000 – each, one at the Jack Pott’s Bingo venue at the Star in Crumlin and the other at the Cabra Grand. Last week, the Murray family was presented with a cheque for €14,275 after Donna, her mum Alice, sister Ann, grandmother Bernie and friend Susan won on the bingo…
…we’re unsure as to who actually daubed the winning ticket, but the group has been playing bingo for more than a decade and always share their winnings. Donna said: “This is our biggest winnings. We’re planning a holiday to Tenerife, while for one of us it will go towards their new apartment. Our nan, Bernie, has been playing since the 1970s and only wants a new phone.”
The other winner, Martha Cousins has also been playing bingo for more than 10 years at Jack Pott’s when her lucky numbers came up. Describing her win, Martha told the local news she was in complete shock on the night that she won: “I couldn’t believe it when my number was called. The other ladies called ‘check’ first, so the whole place erupted with celebrations. You couldn’t hear with all the commotion.”
About Jack Potts
Founded in 2011, Jack Pott’s has four popular bingo venues across Dublin; Cabra, Crumlin, Whitehall and Tallaght. Doors are open 7-days a week for the best bingo games in Ireland as well as casino games.
The Irish owned company provides hours of fun with opportunities to socialise and play games other than bingo. Each venue offers food and drink and a friendly atmosphere. Membership is free and there’s an option for new bingo customers to sign up online and pick up their membership card at their chosen club. Session bingo includes 90-ball bingo games with as many as three prizes per game. Afternoon sessions are as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 1pm, 2pm and 3pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
Evening bingo times:
- Early bird game at 7pm
- Main session starts at 8pm.
All four bingo venues have electronic bingo; the innovative device which allows you to purchase and daub more bingo tickets per game – automatically! Paper bingo is fun, but there’s only so many tickets you can mark at once; I’ve managed three strips of 6 per game before, but bingo numbers are called so fast these days, which is why I prefer to use the electronic device.
The advantages of electronic bingo are:
- Never miss a number again
- Winnings are credited instantly
- More ticket options
- More chance of winning
- Plus, you can play other games

Congratulations to the pair! On the subject of electronic bingo, I find it more convenient with the machine as it allows me to eat my food or scroll through my phone when my tickets are in play. Be ready to shout if you win though, because even though the claim button stops the game, you still need to shout or you will...
