Allwyn UK’s National Lottery Upgrade Boosts Revenue in US and Canada

Allwyn UK has successfully completed a major upgrade of its National Lottery system with the implementation of Scientific Games’ Momentum ecosystem. This technology conversion replaces the outdated 2009 system, marking the largest technology conversion in the global lottery industry. The switch has notably enhanced operations, including revenue growth in the US and Canada, where Allwyn has seen impressive gains in the first half of 2025.

Largest Technology Conversion in Global Lottery History

The Momentum ecosystem, anchored by Scientific Games’ central lottery gaming system, now powers Allwyn UK’s National Lottery operations, including 43,500 retailer terminals across the UK. This transition involved the seamless migration of millions of transactions and retailer records. Retailers across the country were able to resume ticket sales almost immediately after the system switch.

Patrick McHugh, CEO of Scientific Games, highlighted the smooth execution of the upgrade: “We continue to be impressed with the smooth execution of this large-scale, collaborative project with Allwyn UK. A network of more than 43,000 terminals was switched from the legacy system to the new Scientific Games systems, with retailers selling two hours ahead of the planned cut-over schedule.”

The upgrade included not only the system’s replacement but also integration with multiple supplier systems, paving the way for the rollout of Scientific Games’ WAVE terminals. This modernization supports nationwide sales while driving funds for Good Causes across the UK.

Impact on US and Canada Revenue Growth

The technology upgrade has also been a key factor in supporting Allwyn’s growth in the US and Canada. The company has seen strong revenue increases in these regions, helped by strategic partnerships with key operators. Allwyn’s successful operations in North America, including its partnerships with major industry players, have positioned the company for continued success and market expansion.

The updated system and infrastructure will help Allwyn continue to scale operations and improve customer experience, both in the UK and across international markets, particularly the US and Canada, where demand for innovative gaming technology is rapidly increasing.

Continued Collaboration and Future Improvements

The transition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Allwyn and Scientific Games. Following the contract signed in November 2023, which ensures operational and technological support for the National Lottery, both companies remain committed to delivering new and improved services.

Allwyn’s CEO, Andria Vidler, expressed her excitement about the partnership: “These major upgrades will allow us to deliver on our promise to bring new, exciting games, a better player experience, and our commitment to double returns to Good Causes from £30m to £60m every week by the end of the 10-year license.”

Looking forward, further digital enhancements are planned, including upgrades to the National Lottery’s online channels and increased integration of the Momentum ecosystem to provide a more seamless and engaging experience for players. The modernization of the National Lottery is a crucial part of Allwyn’s long-term vision to restore its magic and significantly increase its positive impact across the UK and international markets.
